PowerDash is providing our specially configured Digi IX10 gateway for the following situations:
- Commercial systems getting migrated to PowerDash
- Upgrades of 2G/3G PowerDash-provided gateways, including in the RevBox AIO and RevBox GO
In most cases, this procedure should take no more than 30 minutes.
Here is the retrofit procedure for the Digi IX10:
- If this is an upgrade of a PowerDash-provided gateway, such as in the RevBox AIO or RevBox GO, take note of the MAC address of the existing gateway which should be visible in a label on the inside front door of the enclosure.
- If this is not an upgrade of a PowerDash-provided gateway, confirm that the existing power supply meets the spec of the Digi IX10 (9-30 VDC).
- Power down the power supply to the existing gateway that will be replaced. In a PowerDash-provided equipment solution, this step will typically be accomplished using the one-pole control power breaker in the RevBox.
- Disconnect and remove the existing gateway from the DIN rail. Send a text to your PowerDash field support contact (or call PowerDash at 888-797-3274), providing the MAC address of gateway being replaced.
- Using the provided DIN rail clips, mount the new Digi IX10 on the DIN rail.
- Connect the 9-30 VDC power supply wires to the power terminals on the Digi IX10.
- Using the provided RJ45 serial adapter, connect the existing RS485 communication wires using the following pinout assignments:
Pin B: RS485+
Pin C: RS485-
Pin D: Shield - Plug this RJ45 serial adapter into the SERIAL port on the Digi IX10, taking care to distinguish this port from the ETHERNET port that is also an RJ45 port.
- If this installation has an Ethernet connection, connect the existing Ethernet cable to the ETHERNET port on the Digi IX10.
- Connect both provided paddle antennas to the new Digi IX10. If the existing gateway had a special antenna with a longer cable, attach that existing antenna cable to the WWAN-1 antenna port.
- After confirming that all connections are correct, power up the enclosure again.
- Send a text to your PowerDash field support contact to confirm that the new Digi IX10 is communicating with all devices. Reference the MAC address of the replaced gateway when informing PowerDash which gateway is being upgraded. It's important to confirm communications before leaving the site.
- After communications are confirmed, attach the provided Digi IX10 label (showing device identifiers such as serial number and MAC address) to the inside front door of the enclosure.
- Please feel free to provide any feedback to PowerDash on how we can improve this upgrade procedure!
